Our story started out in one of the most unassuming and least romantic places possible: Gayle’s Broadway Rose. We were hired as singing servers at Gayle’s Broadway Rose at similar times in March of 2022. At first we were just acquaintances within the same friend group. Yes, we knew each other and would hang out but were by no means close. Then one fateful day things changed when Sami decided to tell everyone that she had developed a crush on Albert. A typical man, Albert was none the wiser until Tori Lopez revealed Sami’s feelings for him at Sami’s infamous 23rd Birthday Bash (where they may or may not have been asked to leave The Delancey). While Albert was scared to entertain these feelings due to their friend group and work relationship, Albert noticed Sami’s beautiful hazel eyes while she was singing with the romantic Friedman’s kitchen lighting behind her. Albert then became keen on Samantha, but was torn away from her due to his contractual obligations to a Broadway program for kids that traveled around the country. While he was away, Albert and Samantha sent many a text and shared many a FaceTime before Albert finally bit the bullet by going on a double date with her at Tiki Chick (thank you Jen Chia for arranging this). They had a lovely night and shared a kiss while waiting for an Uber. The following day, Sami had a gig in Norwalk, Connecticut. Since Sami had never been to Connecticut, Albert of course thought it would be romantic if he offered to accompany her on her journey before he went to cater that night in Queens. They travelled that morning by way of The Metro North at Grand Central and listened to the instrumental selections of Studio Ghibli. They will always say this is the day they truly fell for each other. It was not long after that they went on a Central Park picnic date followed by a horrifyingly awful production of “As You Like It” that they decided to call each other “Boyfriend/Girlfriend.” Over the years Sami and Albert would stay with each other’s families. Sami began to become acquainted with Albert’s wonderful parents and spend time in the woods with the animals at Foggy Hollow Farm, while Albert got to fly to Florida and meet Sami’s wonderful parents and become acquainted with June the Golden Retriever. A Costa Rica trip, a move to Astoria Queens, family illness, auditions, and gigs came and went. They even got a lovely black cat Kiki together, named after their favorite Studio Ghibli film. And on One Summer’s Day, Albert got on one knee at the Central Park spot where they shared their first picnic. And after proposing in front of the backdrop of Belvedere Castle they are happily getting married at Fonthill Castle!
